I am a HUGE fan of “self-care”. It is a big deal to encourage it when I work with my clients and it’s an even bigger deal when I do it for myself.
Without it, my days are shot and the “burnout” feeling seems to come much more often.
And now that I have kids, practicing this is no longer an option. It’s a straight-up method for survival!

For some women, self-care is still being seen as a choice that they can make if they have enough time in their day. The sad part about this way of thinking is that when we neglect ourselves in place of everyone else, we’re actually doing a disservice.
Basically, it’s like this: you can’t pour someone else something to drink from an empty cup.
Taking care of you is taking the time to ensure that your cup stays full.
And while there is so much stuff out there that can address exactly how to achieve this, you gotta be true to you and do something that’ll speak directly to YOU.
Engage in an activity that is going to bring you joy, peace, and restoration.
Sometimes a mani/pedi isn’t gonna do that for you– so you gotta find the thing that will.
And most importantly, you cannot expect these activities to bring you the ultimate peace and joy that can and should be found in Christ!
Engaging in chocolate and shopping is fun, but it’s no Jesus. Always remember that a part of caring for you means drawing close to God. He is the ultimate form of self-care!
