When I first married my husband, one of the first pieces of advice I had received was to always pray for your husband.
I had every intention to. Yet, there was one problem.
I didn’t really know how. I’ve never been married before. I don’t know what goes into these things.
Was I supposed to pray about him in the same manner that I prayed for everyone else? Was he supposed to be present when I prayed?
There was no doubt that I loved Kyle very much. And I wanted him to receive the very best. However, this prayer thing really confused me. I didn’t know what to really say and how to use my prayer time effectively to lift him up.
Of course, like any marriage, the honeymoon phase ended. It’s in this season that things began to happen. Our disagreements didn’t all happen overnight, but it was very clear that after now living together, sharing each and every high and low, there was bound to be some adjustments.
I remember the first time I decided that it was time to actively start praying for my husband. We had a disagreement within our marriage bed– it is definitely a place where you don’t want to have any conflicts. Yet, as the young, newlywed couple that we were, we did. A lot.
So, rather than to argue and cause division between my husband and I during our FIRST YEAR OF MARRIAGE, I decided to be proactive about it. I went to our local Christian book store in hopes that I could find something to help me become a better wife for our marriage.
I stumbled upon a book by Stormie Omartian titled, “The Power Of A Praying Wife” (Amazon Affiliate link!). In this book, I discovered just how important and impactful it was to pray for your husband!
Slowly but surely, as the years went by, I found myself learning how to confidently pray over Kyle. Not because I wanted to be a good wife. But because of the results that came out of those prayers! Our connection got better. My love for him grew stronger. And Kyle became the strong, loving, God-fearing husband that I prayed for!
Now can the power of prayer over one’s life really be that powerful? The answer is UH, YES!
However, if you’re in a place where you haven’t really found your prayer groove yet, then I can understand how doing this could be a bit intimidating. I can see how prayer can seem difficult if you aren’t used to praying.
So taken from all my years of experience, allow me to share with you just exactly how you can pray for your husband!
